For this Ninth Sunday after Pentecost, we continue our journey with Jesus and his disciples through the Gospel of Matthew and respond to Jesus’ call to discipleship. In today’s reading from Matthew, we hear the familiar story of Jesus feeding a crowd of 5,000 persons. Jesus feeds the hungry multitude and reveals the abundance of God. We also remember all who are hungry or poor in our world today. As we share the bread of life, we are sent forth to give ourselves away as bread for the hungry. What is your response to Jesus feeding 5,000 persons?
