For this Fourth Sunday after Pentecost, we continue our journey with Jesus and his disciples through the Gospel of Matthew and follow the call of discipleship. The path of discipleship isn’t easy. Jesus points out to his disciples that when people welcome them, they welcome Jesus. We’re reminded that the disciple who gives a cup of cold water to the little ones serves Christ himself. Welcome and service are vital parts of our ministry. We’re sent to serve the little ones of this world and to be a sign of God’s merciful welcome. In what ways have you experienced Jesus’ welcome and service? How have you offered Jesus’ welcome and service to the people around you?
