Be on the look-out for the risen Jesus!

Text: Luke 24:13-49, Easter Sunday

The risen Jesus was the last person this group of grieving women had expected to find when they went to Jesus’ grave early that first Easter. They carried spices to properly prepare a dead body. They hadn’t had time to do a good job the previous Friday. That day, they had watched their amazing teacher die the humiliating, tortuous death of a criminal.

But a huge surprise awaited them! Angels proclaimed Jesus had risen, and he waited for them in Galilee.

Later that day, more followers of Jesus grieved their loss. Two men walked the miles from Jerusalem to the town of Emmaus, wondering what would happen next. Then, a huge surprise! The risen Jesus walked with them, and he opened their eyes to the meaning of God’s prophecies of the Anointed One.

Are you ready for Jesus sightings today, in your life? Be on the look-out, as Jesus appears today, alive and well and working in your life.

Prayer of the Day

O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread, open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in all his redeeming work, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
