For this Day of Pentecost, we, the church, proclaim the Good News, “Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!” Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the Holy Spirit as God’s presence within and among us. So today, we recall the story of the first Pentecost Day, when the Holy Spirit arrived in rushing wind and flame, bringing God’s presence to all people. Some say this event is the birth of the church. We celebrate that we too are given the breath of the Holy Spirit and sent out to proclaim God’s redeeming love to all the world. What does the Holy Spirit mean to you? In what ways have you experienced the work and the power of the Holy Spirit?
