Feeling lost? This God comes looking for you!
Youth @ PEACE Sunday School starts today — 9:45am in the Game Room! All ages welcome.
We’re all lost, really. But Jesus promises that God comes looking for each one of us. Not to punish, but to embrace. To love and to redeem and to celebrate. Today we see examples.
In the Old Testament reading, God’s people mess up big-time. God has just led them out of slavery in Egypt, made water flow out of a rock, fed them in the wilderness with manna and quail, and what do they do? Moses leaves them alone for a little while, and they freak out. They cast a calf of gold and worship it.
In the New Testament reading, St. Paul writes of his own ignorance: Before he met Jesus, he had persecuted Jesus’ followers. I’m more lost than anybody, but through Jesus, God poured out mercy, grace and love on me, he writes.
Jesus himself describes a lost sheep and a lost coin. God is like the person who leaves everything to find what is lost. What follows? Joy – here on earth as we experience God’s love. In heaven, as God sees us reuniting with our Source.
At Peace Lutheran Church, us lost folk gather each Sunday in worship and joy. We welcome you to get found with us. Then, we go out and do our best, Monday through Saturday, to show God’s joy to others.
Jesus told this story to the crowds: “I have found my sheep that was lost.” – Luke 15:6
Great Seeker of the lost, help us to turn to you when we feel afraid, ashamed and unworthy. Help us know that in you, we always find our true selves. Amen.

Sunday School
TODAY we resume Sunday School classes with an Ice Cream Party! (because God’s love is sweet…) Meet our new teachers and play some games. We’ll start with Old Testament lessons: The Children of Israel have been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years and are about to cross over into the Promised Land. This fall, we’ll learn about some amazing faith ancestors, including King David, Queen Esther, Daniel and Jonah. In winter, we’ll turn to stories of Jesus’ life and ministry – healings, parables and miracles.
Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.
Toddlers & babies
Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their fussing and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! Pick up an activity bag as you go into the Sanctuary (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; we have a speaker so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.
Toddler Time: If you’re interested in our special Sunday School program for the tiniest of disciples, call (530) 575-6132. https://www.wearesparkhouse.org/store/category/286879/Frolic-Nursery

Your spiritual growth – Be lost no more!
We would love to grow spiritually with you!
Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual lives.
We are now in the Time After Pentecost. For the next several months, we read stories about what it means to live our lives as God’s People. We think about what it means to be part of the Kingdom of God, here and now!
Thank you, God for sending your Holy Spirit – who fills me with the strength to tell the world of your love! Amen.
