This is the time to prepare!

God calls us to prepare during Advent – the time spanning the four Sundays before Christmas. What do we prepare for? For God to come into our hearts. For God’s kingdom to break into our world. Meanwhile we might wonder: Where is God, anyway?

John recalled the words of the prophet Isaiah, saying, “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord!” – Luke 3:1-6

Jesus assured his followers that he would always be with them. St. Paul assured the earliest church people that God worked in their lives, even though they were suffering persecution. Our job is to keep watching, keep waiting.

At PEACE Lutheran Church, we love to share the good news of God’s love for us, for you (yes, even you), for the whole world (yes, even in the state it’s in)! We believe God uses each one of us to bring little bits of God’s kingdom into reality, here and now. In that certainty, we invite you to prepare with us for the arrival of the Child, the Christ, God’s Anointed One.

Patient, watching God, please give me trust and endurance. Help me watch and wait for you. Prepare me to recognize you! Amen.

Sunday School

Meet at 9:45 in the Game Room (near the Fellowship Center) to work on our Christmas program. We present “Gang of Angels) at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6.

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.

Toddlers & babies

Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their fussing and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! Pick up an activity bag as you go into the Sanctuary (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; a speaker is turned on so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.

Toddler Time: If you’re interested in our special Sunday School program for the tiniest of disciples, call (530) 575-6132.

Your spiritual growth

Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual lives. For us, the time spanning the four Sundays before Christmas is the season of Advent. During this season, we watch and wait for signs of God, who comes near to us in the form of the Christ Child. We would love to grow spiritually with you!
