Thank you for making Rwanda walk a success!

Early reports show than $4,000 in donations came in over the weekend in support of PEACE Lutheran Church’s “Walk for Rwanda.” More donations are expected this week – and you can still donate to this great cause by going to our secure donation portal!

“Walk for Rwanda” drew 33 hikers to three local trails on Saturday. “Walk” organizers from PEACE thanked walkers and all who sponsored them at a short rally, then offered a prayer before heading out.

The weather was pleasantly warm, with a cooling breeze that made walking a joy. Oaken hills and pathways strewn with pine needles greeted walkers at Alan Thiesen, Litton and Hirschman Pond trails in western Nevada County, Calif.

A final tally for this fundraiser will be announced in about a week, when all donations have been received.

PEACE’s Rwanda Connection Committee organized “Walk for Rwanda.” PEACE has been supporting reconciliation and rebuilding in the African nation since after the genocide of 1994. Most of this support has been channeled through the work of Pastor John Rutsindintwarane. He now is the assistant bishop of the African Church in Rwanda.
