“Peace be with you”
Jesus promises peace to believers. But what kind of peace is he talking about?
Jesus’ peace is not like peace that comes from the material world, he tells his followers after his resurrection. The story is mixed with references to loving Jesus and following the instructions for living that he gave. He says that God – Jesus’ “father” – will love us if we do that. Jesus also promises he will send his followers the Holy Spirit.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled” – that is Jesus’ concluding advice. Trust me! Lean on me! Everything is going to be all right!
At PEACE, we welcome all those who need some peace in their own lives today!
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” – John 21:12
Pastor Eileen Smith LeVan preaches today.
