For this Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost, we continue our journey with Jesus and his disciples through the Gospel of Matthew and respond to Jesus’ call to discipleship. In today’s reading from Matthew, we hear Jesus’ parable about two sons who don’t do what they say reveals surprises in the reign of God. In the reading from Ezekiel the people claim the ways of the Lord are unfair, while God offers repentance and new life. Through Jesus, God calls us to repent and offers us reconciliation, forgiveness, and new life. In response, we offer our lives for ministry and to proclaim this good news for the sake of our needy world. In what ways have you experienced God’s call to repent and responded?
