We offer three service opportunities this weekend to serve our community in western Nevada County and beyond. At PEACE Lutheran Church, we believe that God can use us to work miracles in the lives of others.

Every year in September, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America encourages ELCA congregations to participate in “God’s Work, Our Hands” service. Through our service, we show others the face of Jesus. And, we know that Jesus’ face reflects back to us in the face of the people we serve. It’s a beautiful and blessed circle of love and redemption for a broken world.

During ELCA's "God's Work, Our Hands" service program, we let our community know we are here to serve -- in God's name!

We Lutherans usually are pretty modest about our year-in, year-out service to others. But on this day, we don yellow T-shirts so that everyone knows we are lending our hands to do God’s work in the world.

Schedule

We have something for everyone! The schedule for this weekend:

Saturday Sept. 10 — Habitat for Humanity. Meet at the Habitat for Humanity build site off Whiting Street at the southern end of Grass Valley. We are helping to build a house for a family that is putting sweat equity into a home of their own.

Sunday, Sept. 11 — Personal care kits. We will put together kits that include towels and toiletries. These kits will be sent to disaster sites wherever in the world they may be needed. Meet in the Cross Room between the two worship services (starting at about 9:45 and lasting to about 10:45 a.m.). We’ll meet again after the later service (at about 12:20 p.m.) if we need to finish up.

Sunday, Sept. 11 — Sing! We sing hymns with residents of Golden Empire Nursing & Convalescent Center in Grass Valley.
