And PEACE invites you into the new light!

New life, illumined by a new and great light – that’s the promise the Old Testament prophet paints for his audience. They have been living “in a land of deep darkness.” Does that ever sound like your life?

Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” – Matthew 4:19

Then Jesus comes along to fulfill that prophecy. Turn your mind around!, Jesus says. Here is your light!, he proclaims, as he makes this new reality available to us. Jesus invites us to see and to participate in the world in a fundamentally new way. He offers comfort and hope to those wounded by life. Jesus announces God’s love and forgiveness, no matter what. He invites us into a new community that becomes the home base for our mission of love to our world.

At PEACE Lutheran Church, we ask Jesus to show us this great light and to shine among us. We invite you to celebrate this light with us! Today we worship at 8:30 and 11 a.m. (Next Sunday, Feb. 2, we have ONE WORSHOP SERVICE at 10 a.m.) We would love to grow with you and support your spiritual growth in 2020!

Holy Light of God, please shine in my life today! Make me new! Please guide me into this new life in 2020. Amen.

Sunday School

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.

We are learning about some amazing faith ancestors, including King David, Queen Esther, Daniel and Jonah. Plus, we offer stories of Jesus’ life and ministry – healings, parables and miracles.

Toddlers & babies

Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their squirming and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! Pick up an activity bag as you go into the Sanctuary (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; a speaker is turned on so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.

Toddler Time: If you’re interested in our special Sunday School program for the tiniest of disciples, call (530) 575-6132.  https://www.wearesparkhouse.org/store/category/286879/Frolic-Nursery

Your spiritual growth – Jesus invites you to a new life!

We would love to grow spiritually with you – even if you feel like you’re being called to a very different place!

Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual lives. The church year resembles a pilgrim journey: Each season helps us focus our spiritual growth in a different way.

Today is the third Sunday in the church’s season of Epiphany. The word’s Greek roots mean “to make known all around.” Our Bible stories show how God made known Jesus’ mission on this Earth. As the days slowly grow lighter, we think of Jesus as the Light of the World. God’s Anointed One offers hope to all people!

Thank you, God for making your Son known to us. Shine your light on us and the whole world today! Amen.
