Jesus offers a new beginning every day – and we celebrate on Sunday with Holy Communion.

Jesus – Present Before the very beginning!

Beginning a new year can fill us with both excitement and dread. We may look forward to new possibilities. Do you like to make New Year’s resolutions? At the same time, things we failed to accomplish may nag us. We may feel haunted by what happened. On top of that, we may fear what could happen in the coming year.

Our readings remind us that Jesus presides over all beginning. These readings present many mysteries, but God gives us faith and understanding. So dig in! For starters, Jesus existed with God before the beginning of time. Yet, he became a man on this Earth, in time and space. Beyond his earthly time, Jesus offers light to all people in all times. Here’s the big question: Will you let Jesus light your path in 2020? He’s ready!

ONE WORSHIP SERVICE today at 10 a.m. On the first Sunday each month, we have one worship beginning at 10 a.m. On most other Sundays, we worship at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

Today is the second and last Sunday in the church season of Christmas. It may seem strange to fit our readings into the Christmas story! But, they remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. God came into the world as a baby of humble means. Through Jesus, God explains to all people how to understand God and our relationship to God. At PEACE Lutheran Church, we seek to deepen our relationship with God and with each other. We would love to grow with you and support that growth in 2020!

Holy Light of brilliant abundance, strengthen my trust in you to guide me through life in 2020. May your light shine in me today! Amen.

“The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.’” – John 1:17

Sunday School

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.

We are learning about some amazing faith ancestors, including King David, Queen Esther, Daniel and Jonah. Plus, we offer stories of Jesus’ life and ministry – healings, parables and miracles.

Toddlers & babies

Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their fussing and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! Pick up an activity bag as you go into the Sanctuary (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; a speaker is turned on so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.

Toddler Time: If you’re interested in our special Sunday School program for the tiniest of disciples, call (530) 575-6132.  https://www.wearesparkhouse.org/store/category/286879/Frolic-Nursery

Your spiritual growth – God offers a new beginning!

We would love to grow spiritually with you!

Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual lives. Today is the second and last Sunday in the church’s season of Christmas. During this season, the days are the darkest of the year. Yet, God gives us hope by sending God’s Anointed One in the form of a child. Jesus shines God’s light on our path all year long!

The church year resembles a pilgrim journey: Each season helps us focus our spiritual growth in a different way.

Thank you, God for sending your Son, who shines your light on the whole world! Amen.
