ONE service at 10am today!

Be a doer, not just a talker! God promises us many blessings if we do what he asks.

Be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. – James 1:22

What does God ask doers to do? “Care for the orphans and widows in their distress.” Check. And this: “Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.” Uh, that’s hard.

This one’s even tougher: “Keep oneself unstained by the world” – meaning, don’t do things like lying, cheating, envy, gossip, adultery, pride and just plain foolishness. Yikes. Basically, God asks doers to follow the guidelines that God gave people long ago so they could live a good life. Jesus summed it up like this: a) Love and seek God with everything you have; and, b) love your neighbor as yourself. Hmm, that’s sounding like kind of a lot, God, I don’t know.

By the way, just because people are “religious” doesn’t mean they are doers – today’s readings point that out! Those folks keep forgetting who they are, but God knows what’s in their hearts.

The thing is, real doers can’t do by themselves. God’s Holy Spirit helps us every day. And God’s loving forgiveness, through Jesus, gives us a fresh start when we mess up. Which happens a lot. Phew!

At PEACE, we think of worship as doer training. Train with us at 10 a.m. worship today. (We hope you’ll stay for coffee and baked goodies!)

Gracious, loving God, please help me to be a doer! You know how hard it is. So, help me to see your life as the good life! Amen.

Your spiritual growth

Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual lives. For us, we are in “Time After Pentecost,” a season of growth – much like summer! Read about Time After Pentecost here.

Sunday School

We resume next Sunday, at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 9. Please come have ice cream & toppings with us, while you get acquainted with our new spaces for our youth & family programs. Go to our Education Wing (past the Fellowship Center) to find the Youth Game Room.

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.

Adult Bible Study

Not today! Most Sundays during the summer months, our Adult Bible Study will be on break.

Toddlers & babies

Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their fussing and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! Pick up an activity bag as you go into the Sanctuary (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; a speaker is turned on so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.

Toddler Time: If you’re interested in our special Sunday School program for the tiniest of disciples, call (530) 575-6132 for information. It’s available starting in the fall.
