God calls you to fish – or sing – or whatever you do!

If you like to fish, God has a job for you. If you drive heavy equipment for a construction contractor, God has a job for you, too. If you train dogs, or sling burgers, or bag groceries, or repair computers, or create apps, or run a business – whatever you do, God has a really, really important job for you.

Jesus said, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” – Mark 1:17

Our story today – and it’s about fish – shows that God calls us to do whatever it is that we already do, but do it for a higher purpose. Do it for the love of the whole world.

Your new job is to do whatever you already do in a way that brings God’s Kingdom into being, here and now. Do your job in a way that brings love, justice and mercy to the people right there in front of you. (Yeah, it can be hard, but don’t worry – God will be right there to help you!)

Dear God, please – I want to live that kingdom now! Help me to hear you calling me and guiding me into your kingdom of grace. (At PEACE, we are listening for God’s voice, too! Check us out at the 8:30 & 11 a.m. worship services this morning.)

Adult Bible Study

The Adult Forum meets in the Old Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m. Stop first in the Fellowship Center around the corner to pick up coffee & baked goods!

Sunday School

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.

Meet us at 9:45 a.m. downstairs in the Youth Room.

Toddlers & babies

Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their fussing and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! As you go into the Sanctuary, pick up an activity bag (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; a speaker is turned on so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.

Toddler Time: God invites ALL children to be His disciples. We offer a fun program especially for your squirmy tots and even your babies during our Sunday School hour. We start all together at 9:45 a.m., downstairs in the Youth Room, for music and prayer. Then parents & our youngest disciples head to the Nursery for relaxed and age-appropriate activities. We would love to receive you, just please call ahead – (530) 575-6132.

Your spiritual growth

Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual growth. We are in Epiphany, when we focus on the ways Jesus, his identity as God’s Son and his mission on Earth became known. Read more about Epiphany here.
