Jesus brings a different kind of peace!
We want Jesus to bring us peace. And he does – but Jesus himself warns it’s not the kind of peace we expect. As followers of the Jesus Path, we may, instead, find division, rejection and contempt.
In some parts of the world today, being a Follower even can mean death. Our world is so broken! But when we let the peace of Christ rule our hearts, even though the world may be raging around us, we have a serenity deep within that “passes all understanding.”
At PEACE, we welcome all who, like us, pray that God will send us such peace!
“Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth?” – Luke 12:51
Pastor Eileen Smith Le Van preaches today.
Today’s Bible readings: Jeremiah 23:23-29; Psalm 82; Hebrews 11:29-12:2; Luke 12:49-56. Read them here.
Coming up at PEACE
- Church Picnic — Our Annual Church Picnic takes place on the afternoon of Sunday Sept. 18, at Lake Wildwood. Enjoy barbecued chicken, ribs, burgers & hot dogs; bring a potluck salad or dessert to share. Then, play horse-shoes, croquet, take a ride on the lake, enjoy children’s games & puzzle challenges. Sign up in the Atrium.
- God’s Work, Our Hands – On the weekend of Sept. 10-11, we don yellow T-shirts and let others know the joy we experience when we let God use our hands to do His work. Projects include singing hymns at Golden Empire Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center; building at our local Habitat for Humanity site; and preparing personal care kits that will be deployed to disaster sites around the world, through Lutheran World Relief. Sign up in the Atrium.
