But, what will you knock for?
Persistent prayer is the theme of today’s Gospel. Jesus tells his followers to knock on God’s door and ask. “It will be given to you,” Jesus promises. “Search, and you will find.”
But will they ask for a laundry list of material goodies? That’s not what God is about – though that’s surely what we want from God, right?
God wants us to pester him with our prayers. And Jesus tells his followers what to pester about: “The heavenly father (will) give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
“Knock, and the door will be opened for you.” – Luke 11:9
At PEACE, we knock persistently on heaven’s door, expectantly waiting for God’s Spirit to fill us and renew us. We welcome all who, like us, yearn to feel filled with God’s good gifts!.
Pastor Eileen Smith Le Van preaches today.
Today’s Bible readings: Genesis 18:20-32; Psalm 138; Colossians 2:6-19; Luke 11:1-13
