God is always in charge!

“This is but the beginning of the birth pangs.” – Mark 13:8.

Jesus’s friends are impressed with the majesty of the Temple in Jerusalem. But he warns them not to be dazzled by the physical world. Change is coming!

We, too, might be impressed. Or perhaps depressed. What are we to think and do when our world seems to be falling apart? It’s all too human to look to leaders claiming to be The One who will lead us. “Don’t be led astray,” Jesus warns his followers.

At PEACE, we welcome all those yearn for the world God promises! Together, we weather the world’s changes as we help each other cling to what is true and enduring.

Today’s Bible readings: Daniel 12:1-3; Psalm 16; Hebrews 10:11-25; Mark 13:1-8

Giving from PEACE

Operation Christmas Child

Today is the last day to bring a shoe box filled with gifts for an impoverished child overseas.

Gift suggestions include one “wow” item, such as a soccer ball with a pump; other smaller items such as hygiene products and school supplies; a label identifying the contents for a boy or a girl; giftwrap the box and lid; and a $7 donation to cover shipping. Drop off your box at the table in the Atrium, and please, PRAY for the child who will receive it. Click here to visit Samaritan’s Purse for details.

Sponsor a family through Interfaith Food Ministry

With a $20 donation, you can provide a holiday meal for a local family through IFM. Donate in someone else’s name as a Christmas gift. Call the office at (530) 273-9631 for details.

Sunday School

Moses is so much like us… He whines. He thinks he’s not good enough. He wants proof. Can we learn to let God be in charge?

Youth @ PLC is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means in our lives. Our Teen Class focuses on our Faith Ancestors and what these flawed but faithful folks have to teach us. Bring your questions, doubts and challenges to God, the Bible and the Church – they are welcome here!

Teen Fling is 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Come to Grass Valley United Methodist Church, using the South School Street entrance, for this fun, multi-church gathering of faithful searchers, seekers and questioners. All teens are welcome.

Bible memory verses: Kids can earn Bible Bucks for verses they memorize and redeem them for cool prizes!
