“Welcome, Pastor Eileen!”

Are you hungry? Food – physical and spiritual – comes to us from God’s abundant and lavish hands.

Today’s Gospel reading likens Jesus, God’s Anointed One, to the manna that God miraculously sent to the nomadic Israelites each morning during the 40 years they wandered in the wilderness. Come to worship, where we eat this forever-nourishing Bread together. Welcome this Christ into your heart. Jesus promises that, filled with him, we will never go hungry again!

And so we give thanks for God’s abundant gifts to us! Our new pastor, the Rev. Eileen Smith LeVan, presides for her first Sunday with us today. Thanks and praise to God for sending her to PEACE Lutheran Church!

Jesus said, “Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life.” And the people replied, “Give us this bread always!” – John 6:26, 34

Today’s Bible Readings: 2 Kings 4:42-44; Psalm 145:10-18; Ephesians 3:14-21; John 6:1-21

Today’s Sermon: Pastor Eileen Smith LeVan preaches today – her first Sunday at PEACE!

Youth & Family events

  • Youth & Family Sunday – Aug. 23 at both worship services. This is a time when we support our youth in leadership roles in our worship. If you would like to participate, please contact Trina Kleist at (530) 575-6132 (txt ok) or trinakleist@gmail.com. Also, a sign-up sheet is in the Atrium on the welcome desk.
  • Vacation Bible School – THANK YOU for your prayers and financial support of Earthcare Day Camp last week. It attracted 75 children, a 40% increase over last summer. Many were from the 5 participating churches, but MOST of those children are not affiliated with any faith congregation. This was a true work of outreach to our community, carrying the story of Jesus’ love to children and families who would not otherwise hear it.
