We continue our forty-day Lenten journey with Jesus, focusing on repentance, renewal, reconciliation, and God’s relationship with us through Jesus Christ. In today’s reading from 1 Corinthians, Paul’s focus and proclamation is on Christ crucified. Through Jesus Christ, the cross has been transformed and proclaims that God is mostly revealed in weakness, humiliation, and death. And through the cross, there is life and salvation. In the reading from John, Jesus throws the merchants out of the temple. Jesus is defending the worship of God alone and rejecting the ways commerce and profit-making can become our gods. Simultaneously, Jesus speaks of his death and resurrection. Through Jesus, there is change centered in God’s liberating love. How have you experienced God’s transformation in your life?
