During the Epiphany season, Jesus is revealed to us that he is the anointed one of God, the Christ, sent to save humanity and creation. In today’s reading from Deuteronomy, God promises to raise up a prophet like Moses, who will speak for God. In the reading from Mark, Jesus teaches with authority and heals people. We encounter that authority in God’s word, around which we gather, the word that prevails over any lesser spirit that would claim power over us, freeing us to follow Jesus. What does Jesus mean to you? How will you follow Jesus?
