ONE Worship service today @ 10am!

Forever – that’s how long you’ll get the nourishment God gives. Bread has long been the western world’s most basic food. People called it “the staff of life.” In today’s stories, bread symbolizes all the deeper things that we hunger for – food of the spirit. This food comes only from God, and God gives it freely and abundantly to you! Forever!

Jesus said, “The bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread forever.” – John 6:33-34

Jesus has just fed 5,000 people with a miracle-multiplying of five barley loaves and two dried fish. Abundance gushes out of apparent lack! When the crowd follows him for more, Jesus tells them, “You think I can give you food for your bellies. But what you really need – and what I can give you abundantly – is food for your souls! And, the food I give lasts forever.”

Just one thing they have to do, he adds: “Believe in me, and you’ll never go hungry again.”

Will you let Jesus feed you? At PEACE, we look to Jesus as our bread as we nourish our faith together. Check us out at 10 a.m. worship service this morning! (We hope you’ll stay for coffee and baked goodies!)

Gracious, loving God, feed me! I want to eat your mysterious, amazing, miraculous bread! Help me – lead me – feed me! Amen.

Your spiritual growth

Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual lives. For us, we are in “Time After Pentecost,” a season of growth – much like summer! Read about Time After Pentecost here.

Adult Bible Study

No Adult Forum today. But come at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, to hear the lesson taught by Bishop Mark Holmerud, leader of our local Sierra Pacific Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Want a daily Bible reading program? Click here.

Sunday School

We’re on break for the summer! But we’re planning a fun trip to the South Yuba River for Aug. 19 and a family game night in September. Stay tuned for details!

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.

Toddlers & babies

Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their fussing and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! Pick up an activity bag as you go into the Sanctuary (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; a speaker is turned on so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.

Toddler Time: If you’re interested in our special Sunday School program for the tiniest of disciples, call (530) 575-6132 for information. It’s available starting in the fall.
