Jesus is stronger than your doubts!

Jesus was getting a lot of buzz as he started preaching in the country towns of Galilee. People spoke highly of him – “Hey! This guy’s really something! You should hear the things he says!”

“No prophet is accepted in the prophet’s hometown.” – Luke 4:24

Then, he goes home to Nazareth, where he grew up. Teaches in the synagogue there, makes a good impression. Then the wags start in on him: “But isn’t this Mary’s kid? The carpenter’s boy? Who does he think he is, anyway?”

It’s just as hard for us. Whaddaya mean, some guy flies down from the sky, turns water into wine, feeds 5,000 people with a couple of dried fish, gets killed and rises from the dead – I’m supposed to believe all that?

At PEACE, we welcome those who are questioning, those who doubt – but who God is calling anyway. Yep, that’s what God does – loves us and calls us, despite ourselves!

Today’s Bible readings: Jeremiah 1:4-10; Psalm 71:1-6; 1 Corinthians 13:1-13; Luke 4:21-30

Adult Bible Study

We’re reading from the Gospel of Luke (one of the books with stories about Jesus’ life) and using materials from Book of Faith (an initiative to help people become more knowledgeable about the Bible). Today’s question: Why must Jesus die? Pastor Eileen Smith-LeVan will lead starting at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Old Fellowship Hall. Be sure to get your coffee and cookies first!

Youth @ Peace Sunday School

Jesus heals! That’s our message today as we learn the story of Jesus healing 10 men with a terrible and contagious skin disease, leprosy. But most of them don’t even say ‘thank you.’ How human is that?

Youth @ PLC is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means in our lives. Bring your questions, doubts and challenges to God, the Bible and the Church – they are welcome here!

Bible memory verses: Kids can earn Bible Bucks for verses they memorize and redeem them for cool prizes!
