Advent Brings Signs of God’s Kingdom.

Today is the first day of a special season in the church. “Advent” is the season when we know something is coming, so we better get ready for it!

Advent is the four weeks before Christmas, and it’s the period when we get ready for the coming of the Christ Child – Jesus, God in human form, both fully divine and fully human. Traditionally, Advent is a time of waiting and watching for signs of God’s presence in and around us, and God’s work changing the world one heart at a time.

A world in turmoil – we see it today, just as people saw it during Jesus’ time. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells his followers to be alert and notice the signs that God’s Kingdom is coming amid all the worldly hubbub. He warns of “distress” among the nations, “fear” among the people, and “signs” even in the “sun, moon and stars.” He reminds us to pray for strength, and that we are not to worry nor be weighed down by things of this world.

Advent is one sign to us that Jesus is near! It reminds us to get ready to meet Him!

“There will be signs in the sun, the moon and the stars.” — Luke 21:25

At PEACE, we welcome all those want to know more about getting ready for Jesus. And, if the Spirit moves you, we invite you to work with us to bring His kingdom into being, here in Grass Valley!

Our Teen reading group focuses on our Faith Ancestors and what these flawed but faithful folks have to teach us. Bring your questions, doubts and challenges to God, the Bible and the Church – they are welcome here!

Bible memory verses: Kids can earn Bible Bucks for verses they memorize and redeem them for cool prizes!

Christmas Trees

Youth @ Peace will have beautiful, freshly cut Christmas trees available – but NOT this Sunday! Due to snow on the back roads, we could not travel on Saturday. You can still order a tree by calling or texting Trina Kleist at (530) 575-6132, or emailing to trinakleist@gmail.com.. Trees are by donation.

NEWS FLASH! We just learned from our local Gold Country Chapter of Thrivent that all donations to the Youth Christmas Tree project will be matched dollar for dollar up to $600! We will use these funds to buy new equipment for our Youth Room downstairs, including a flat-screen TV and new games. THANK YOU for your support!
