Go ahead. Make God laugh.

Two of Jesus’ closest friends, James and John, had big plans for themselves – and they wanted Jesus to give them the OK to move ahead with their big ideas. Now who does that sound like?

Jesus saw, again and again, that even the people who knew him best usually didn’t get what he was doing and saying. And who does that sound like???

His message then, as now, is that God’s plans are different from our plans. Jesus’ glory looks to the world like complete defeat. Which path do we want to follow? The world’s choices may confuse us, but if we keep our eyes on Jesus’ example, our decisions become easy.

“The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve.” – Mark 10:45

Today’s Bible readings: Isaiah 53:4-12; Psalm 91:9-16; Hebrews 5:1-10; Mark 10:34-45

During Fire Season

During this season of fire danger, we hold in our prayers the men and women who fight fires in our community and across the United States. We have at least eight people connected to our congregation who are involved.

Is a firefighter in your family? Please let Pastor Eileen know so that we can include them by name in our prayers.

Get Involved at PEACE!

We have lots of ways for you to get involved here at PEACE Lutheran Church. Here are three areas of need. Please call the church office at (530) 273-9631 for more information.

Assisting Ministers – These folks help the pastor during worship services by reading prayers and helping to serve Holy Communion. Please give prayerful consideration to joining this wonderful service!

Hospitality & Fellowship – We need people to help with coffee after both services and to bring baked goods to share.

Adopt-a-Spot – This project will help keep the PEACE campus inviting and beautiful. The plan is to divide the landscape area into 8 spots and ask that two volunteers maintain each spot. We think that monthly visits would be sufficient to do the job.
