In these days between Ascension and Pentecost, we gather with the
disciples in the upper room, waiting for the Spirit to transform the
church around the world. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, he left
those who will follow him with a promise that is a task at the same
time, that we “will be” his witnesses “to the ends of the earth.” For
this we have received the same power that raised Christ from the
dead, God’s Holy Spirit, who empowers us.
