God’s calling: Do you know who you are?

The religious honchos of the time asked John the Baptist: “Who are you?” They knew he was someone special – and it scared the daylights out of them.

John knew who he was: “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness,” John answered. “Make straight the way of the Lord!” He knew his job was to announce that Jesus was about to arrive – an itinerant preacher who would turn the world upside-down.

“He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.” – John 1:8

God is calling you, too. Do you know who you are? God has some jobs lined up for his people: love justice, hate robbery, bind up the brokenhearted, bring good news to the oppressed and proclaim liberty to the captives, for starters. (See the full job description in today’s reading from Isaiah.)

Learn who you are, and feel God’s light shining on you, as we worship together at PEACE Lutheran Church – 8:30 & 11 a.m. today.

At PEACE This Morning

Sunday School

TODAY we present our Children’s Christmas Program during the sermon time at the 8:30 & 11 a.m. worship services. We invite you to enjoy “Advent Devotions with Papa Luther,” based on readings from this fall. It’s part of our celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation!

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn more about our loving, gracious Creator.

Bible memory verses: Kids can earn Bible Bucks for verses they memorize and redeem them for cool prizes! Our goal is for young people to bring God’s word deep into their hearts, supporting a lifetime of faith.

Toddler Time

No Toddler Time this morning, sorry! But please check it out in January, when we resume our usual schedule. Please call for information, (530) 575-6132.

We have a special program for the tiniest disciples. God invites ALL children, so bring your babies and squirmy tots for this fun program! Usually, we start at 9:45 a.m. with music downstairs in the Youth Room with the older children. Then, our youngest Followers of Jesus head upstairs to the Nursery for an age-appropriate lesson.

We encourage parents to stay – you are your child’s most important teacher!
