Bread and wisdom…

These themes repeat in our Bible readings this week. Even Jesus’ closest followers had trouble understanding Jesus’ message when he compared himself to bread – Bread from Heaven, the Bread of Life.

We pray that God give us also the wisdom to understand! We pray that the Holy Spirit enter into us, too, so that we may feel Jesus with us, in the flesh, and be sustained by his risen life.

In worship today, we will discover how we can receive the meaning of Jesus’ puzzling words. Our new pastor, the Rev. Eileen Smith LeVan, will preside at both services (8:45 & 11 a.m.)

Fair Trade Sunday

We have coffee, tea, chocolate bars, cocoa, nuts, dried fruit and other products for sale after each service. Look for the table in the Old Fellowship Hall – it’s on your way to the Fellowship Center where you can get free cookies, coffee and juice.

The Fair Trade certification means farmers in Third World countries earn a dignified wage for their work. All sales support the Rwanda School Project. Click here to learn more.

During Fire Season

During this season of fire danger, we hold in our prayers the men and women who fight fires in our community and across the United States. We have at least eight people connected to our congregation who are involved.

Is a firefighter in your family? Please let Pastor Eileen know so that we can include them by name in our prayers. Click here for contact information.

Adult Bible Study

We will not have an adult class between services during August. Instead, take more time for coffee fellowship in our Fellowship Center! We like to say that “Lutheran coffee is heavenly!”
