“We had hoped.” This is how so many of our stories could start. This is how the risen Jesus Christ meets two disciples. And when they recognize him, their hope is rekindled.
Can you imagine to live as a stranger in a different country? It takes courage to take this step. We as Christians are aliens in the world, strangers and exiles. It is our hope and joy that makes us recognizable.

This years Palm Sunday we exchanged palm branches with redwood tree branches from the church yard. After all, the people who welcomed Jesus in Jerusalem took what was at hand. Jesus chose to ride on a donkey, a symbol of the Messiah, a symbol of humility and peace.
