Easter Candle Workshop – Saturday March 28, 10:00 – 12:00am
When you enter the sanctuary at PLC you will pass by the Easter Candle, also called Paschal Candle, at the baptismal font. The candle symbolizes Christ as the Light of the World, and especially the light off His resurrection shining from the empty grave onto our grief and sadness. We light the Easter Candle for the 50 days of the Easter season as a visual reminder of Christ’s victory over death. After that we light this candle for baptisms and funerals, where it symbolizes our hope in resurrection and eternal life.
We are going to decorate the new Easter candle for our sanctuary, talk about the symbols that are put on the candle, and give each participant a chance to create their own (smaller) candle to take home and light on Easter morning. Candles and material for decoration will be provided. We will ask for a donation to offset the cost of the candle you take home.
Please register for this workshop until March 25 either by signing your name on the registration sheet in front of the offices, or by calling the office.
