Come to our concert, help Hurricane Harvey victims!

Come enjoy all kinds of music – classical organ, piano, banjo, opera, horn and guitar, just for starters! Musicians from PEACE Lutheran Church and beyond perform their favorites to raise money at this Texas Hurricane Fundraising Concert. We joyfully give of our talent and time to support hurricane relief in the Houston, Texas, area.

This Sunday’s concert is free, so come and enjoy – then give what you can. Donations of any amount will be accepted gratefully. Every penny you give goes to Lutheran Disaster Response, the outreach of our national church organization that helps people in crisis all over the world.

Make out checks to Lutheran Disaster Response and write “Texas Hurricane” in the memo line. Or, make a donation on our secure website – just know that Paypal charges us 2.2% of the transaction to process it.

Showing our love through music

We Lutherans love music! And we love to help others. It’s a way to be God’s hands in the world.

Music this Sunday will include Walt playing on the organ (did you know that Walt is a sought-after performer of live accompaniment for silent film?). Thomas Greathouse, organist and pianist for Emanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley, also will perform. PEACE vocalist Anne Vaaler will sing opera – Anne was trained in operatic music and directs the regional Colla Voce Children’s Choir. PEACE member Joe Souza will play his trumpet with buddy Dave on the banjo – can’t wait to hear that! And, we are putting together some Texas-themed music for a sing-a-long.

Here’s an opportunity for people in western Nevada County to make a difference for our brothers and sisters in the Houston area! Let folks in Texas know that we see them as fellow human beings. This catastrophe reminds us that what unites us is deeper and stronger and better than what divides us.
