Texas Flood: Need continues for relief & rebuilding

Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund – Donate here!

Our brothers and sisters in the area of Houston, Texas, face many years of rebuilding their homes and communities. Some still face homelessness after floods took everything.

You can still help those efforts to offer relief and help rebuild! At PEACE Lutheran Church, we are supporting the work of Lutheran Disaster Response in that region by sending whatever financial resources we can. Every penny you donate will go to efforts on the ground.

We gratefully accept your online donations! THE FORM IS BELOW. Please note that PayPal charges us 2.2% of your transaction as their processing fee. After that, 100% of your gift will go to Lutheran Disaster Response. PEACE does not charge any fee for processing your donation.

Prefer sending a check? Please make out your check to “Lutheran Disaster Response” & write “Texas Hurricane” in the memo line. Then, mail it to PEACE Lutheran Church, 828 W. Main St., Grass Valley, CA 95945. We will forward your check to Lutheran Disaster Response at no charge.

Support from PEACE

Church organist Walt Strony was moved to organize a fundraising concert for Sunday, Sept. 3, to support the work of Lutheran Disaster Response.

Hurricane Harvey hit the Gulf Coast on a Friday, and Walt brought up the idea early on the following Tuesday, after learning of Harvey’s devastation. Harvey was “the heaviest tropical downpour in U.S. history,” the Associated Press reported.

PEACE’s staff organist, Walt Strony, also plays piano and accompanies other musicians. He’ll play during the Texas Hurricane Fundraising Concert at 4pm Sunday. Sept. 4, at PEACE Lutheran Church.

Performers at this concert of secular music included the nationally acclaimed Strony, organist and pianist Thomas Greathouse, and Peace’s pastor, the Rev. Eileen Smith Le Van playing guitar. Other musicians also came, and selections included Texas-themed music.
