Let God’s Spirit feed you!

Nourish yourself lately? Yeah, it’s OK to enjoy the material things. Our human bodies and minds need some of that. But they leave you hungry and thirsty, sooner or later. That’s because the material goodies don’t feed your spiritual self. And you know that’s true!

So God invites you to nourish yourself with the food and drink that leaves you deeply satisfied. God’s bread and water give you utter peace. Always. Forever. Really!

Jesus said to the crowd, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35

We’ve had several stories this season about God’s bread and water. In these stories, Jesus explains that God gives it to everyone. Losers? Sure. Failures? You bet. Even me? Especially you!

The rich and famous? Well, folks gotta know they need nourishment. The thing about having lots of material goodies is that we can keep gorging ourselves on phony food. That makes it easier to pretend we feel just fine. (Nah, I’m good, God, maybe some other time.)

How do you feel? If you’re hungry and thirsty for something more, PEACE Lutheran Church can help. Here, you can get your fill of God’s food. It will nourish your spiritual self, deeply and always. God promises, this is true!

We would love to feed our faith with you at the table of worship. Services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. today. (We hope you’ll stay for coffee and baked goodies!)

Gracious, loving God, please feed me! I want to eat your mysterious, miraculous bread! Give me your amazing, all-healing water! Nourish me! Amen.

Your spiritual growth

Like natural seasons, our church seasons have a special meaning for our spiritual lives. For us, we are in “Time After Pentecost,” a season of growth – much like summer! Read about Time After Pentecost here.

Adult Bible Study

Not this morning! Most Sundays during the summer months, our Adult Bible Study will be on break.

NEXT SUNDAY: We’ll have a special teacher for our Adult Forum – Bishop Mark Holmerud leads us in a special Bible study. Bishop Holmerud is head of our regional church organization, the Sierra Pacific Synod. (The word “synod” comes from two Greek roots that evoke a bunch of people on a journey together.)

Sunday School

We’re on break for the summer! But we’re planning a fun trip to the South Yuba River for Aug. 19 and a family game night in September. Stay tuned for   details!

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. We welcome all who yearn to learn about our loving, gracious Creator.

Toddlers & babies

Kids in church: PLEASE bring your young children to church! Their fussing and squealing may pain you, but they make us glad! Pick up an activity bag as you go into the Sanctuary (on the left in a basket, ask an usher). During the sermon, you can take your kids to our Nursery; a speaker is turned on so you can hear the sermon and follow the service.

Toddler Time: If you’re interested in our special Sunday School program for the tiniest of disciples, call (530) 575-6132 for information. It’s available starting in the fall.
