Jesus breathes God’s spirit into you, too!

A spirit-filled life – that’s what we all need! Jesus understood that better than anyone. So when he got ready to leave this Earth, he assured his followers that, yes, he really had risen from the dead. Yes, he really was the Son of God! And yes, he was leaving them with the same God-power that had filled his remarkable ministry.

Then, Jesus himself breathed the God-spirit onto his followers. The words we read this morning remind us of the Creation story – how God breathed the breath of life into the people he created.

“(Jesus) breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’” – John 20:22

ONE WORSHIP SERVICE TODAY! We worship all together at 11 a.m. today as we embark on a refocused mission as God’s people at PEACE Lutheran Church. We celebrate Pentecost – God’s spirit in us – with fiery balloons and beautiful music. And we commission our beloved high school graduates into the world, praying the Holy Spirit fill and accompany them throughout their lives. Have cake and punch with us as we celebrate after the worship service, in the Fellowship Center!

Today’s Bible readings: Acts 2:1-21; Psalm 104:24-34, 35b; 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13; John 20:19-23. Read them here.

The Rev. Eileen Smith Le Van preaches today.

Youth @ PEACE Sunday School

Bring your questions, doubts and challenges to God, the Bible and the Church – they are welcome here! Young people of all ages meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Youth Room downstairs.

TODAY – We’ll practice waving our Spirit-sticks in the processional at the beginning of the 11 a.m. worship service. (Oh boy, it’s so much fun!)

Bible memory verses: Kids can earn Bible Bucks for verses they memorize and redeem them for cool prizes! Our goal is for young people to bring God’s word deep into their hearts, supporting a lifetime of faith.

Youth @ PEACE is our all-ages Bible study, where young disciples learn the core stories of our faith and what it means to walk the Jesus Path. This spring, we are learning about the ministry of Jesus and how we can apply His words to our lives (yes, it’s possible!!). We welcome all who yearn to learn more about our loving, gracious Creator.

Toddler Time

God welcomes even the tiniest of disciples. Toddler Time is for all children from babies to 4 years old. Parents are welcome to stay and participate, or leave their little ones and attend Adult Forum. We start out with music in our all-ages Sunday School opening at 9:45 a.m., downstairs in the Youth Room. Then, parents and tots head upstairs to the Nursery. Our 45-minute “Frolic” curriculum is fun for children and parents.
